# Know market prices, build pricing strategies – with agents

For DEW21 – one of Germany’s leading municipal utilities – we built a market observation agent that pulls in daily market prices and compares them with the utility’s own tariffs, grid fees and margins. The result: well-founded pricing, bonus and placement strategies – developed in dialogue, based on real market data.

Municipal utilities like DEW21 are under daily price pressure. Energy tariffs move, competitors react within hours – but anyone who really wants to understand their own market position needs more than a portal extract: grid fees, procurement costs, margins and observed market prices have to be thought through together. Done manually that takes hours – and the data is out of date by the time it is finished.

For DEW21 we built a market observation agent that closes exactly this gap. The agent pulls in daily observed market prices and sets them against the utility’s own tariffs – including grid fees, optional margins and procurement costs. The product and sales team asks questions in natural language: where do we stand in the market? What if we lowered the bonus by 50 euros? Which levers do we need for a better placement? The agent calculates scenarios, gives concrete recommendations and answers follow-up questions – multimodally, without detours through Excel.

Because DEW21 works with sales data from infrastructure close to critical infrastructure, data protection and secure governance were part of the concept from the start rather than something added later. The agent is integrated into the existing Power BI reporting and exports comparisons automatically as Excel. Price shifts over months become traceable – not only the current state, but the trend.

### Market observation agent – live demo

Interactive demo: in the draggable chat window you can put sample questions to the market observation agent (for example electricity, 24 months, 3,500 kWh in Dortmund), switch between gross and net as well as with and without bonus, and retrieve the position of the DEW products on Check24 and Verivox. The demo uses sample data; in production the agent works with ENet and DEW product data.

A market observation agent does not replace a sales strategy. It gives that strategy the factual basis it needs: current, traceable and without the manual effort that otherwise keeps good people from the actual work.

The vision: market analysis becomes the direct basis for new price calculations and tariff strategies – carried over into tariff generation and connected directly, without any break in the chain.
